Choose your Bilstein shock absorbers

You can choose between individual shock absorbers and a complete shock absorber set. Below we explain the difference, so you can pick the best option for your vehicle.

Individual shock absorbers

Shock absorbers are sold as single units (for example front only, rear only, or even one single shock). This is a great choice if:

  • you know exactly which position you need (front/rear, left/right);
  • you want to replace one damaged or leaking shock absorber;
  • other related components (springs/top mounts) have recently been replaced.

Note: for best handling and even wear, it’s commonly recommended to replace shocks in pairs on the same axle (left + right).

Complete shock absorber set

A complete shock absorber set is a bundle with the correct shocks for your car, usually per axle (2 pieces) or front + rear (4 pieces), depending on the set. This is ideal if:

  • you want to renew both sides at once for balanced performance;
  • you want tight, predictable handling and improved ride comfort;
  • you prefer the reassurance that the components are matched.

A complete set is often the most convenient choice for normal wear, restoring consistent damping left/right (and potentially front/rear) in one go.

Which option should you choose?

  • Choose “Shock absorbers” if you’re replacing a specific position or you know exactly what you need.
  • Choose “Complete shock absorber set” if you want to restore comfort, stability and balance in one purchase.
